From 20.03.2023 to 26.03.2023, the week of national culture of the city of Tambov was held as part of the "Year of National Culture" project in the AMAKS Hotels&Resorts network.
Tambov is located in the Central Chernozem region, founded in 1636 as a fortress city to protect the Moscow lands from the steppe dwellers. From Tambov to Moscow — 460 km, it's about 8 hours by train.
One of the symbols of Tambov is potatoes. Local potatoes are often called the most delicious in Russia. All because it grows on exemplary chernozem. A cubic meter of Tambov chernozem is even stored in the French Chamber of Weights and Measures as a standard of fertile soil. In Tambov, they say that if you stick a shaft into the ground, then a cart will grow in a year.
As part of the project, a lecture was held at the resort with a viewing of a documentary film dedicated to the Tambov estate of S.V. Rachmaninov "Ivanovka – the innermost corner of Russia".
At one of the dinners, which is dedicated weekly to the "Year of National Culture" project, guests were able to taste national dishes of Tambov cuisine.
